Cover of the report

Gender-based violence manifests itself in different areas of daily life, globally and especially in Latin America, where various regional indicators exhibit gender inequalities reflected both in economic disparities and in disproportionate access to education, health and even the Internet.

In the political and public sphere, when women or historically excluded demographic groups, seek to participate, be elected or hold political office, there has been an increase in reported cases of gender-based political violence. Increasingly, Internet platforms are also becoming part of this perverse equation.

Based on this context, this report aims to expand these efforts, providing a regional perspective on gender-based political violence that also manifests itself through the Internet, and offering recommendations to the electoral justice system, Internet platforms, candidates, parties and civil society, so that this trend, which threatens a more diverse and plural political system, is combated with due attention.
